Studio Eco Bricolage Weaving Into Brookland

The Brookland Bombshells are a community yarn bombing group in the Brookland neighborhood in NE Washington, DC. They were established in November 2013 and were founded and are facilitated by Studio Eco Bricolage. Yarn bombing is the trend in which public structures are wrapped with knitted or crocheted pieces with purposes of beautifying an area. Started by three artists, this organization has made installiations in Takoma Park to Rossyln and recently established a home at the new Monroe Street Market studios. Their first neighborhood installaton was a yarn bombing of the Monroe Street Bridge which they hope will ease tension between the old and new neighborhood residence. As an organization, the collaborative produces and sells everything from jewelry, to pseudomorphic sculptures, and book art.
