The Machine Project is an LA based storefront space. Working as a gallery sometimes, a community gathering/event space (for things such as poetry readings, cheese tastings, sleepovers, scientific talks, etc.) at others, and an informal educational institution on whatever they think is interesting (like electronics, sewing, pickling, etc.)more often. In addition, the Machine Project is a loose group of artists and performance collaborators, who perform not only in their space but in environmental and institutional spaces around the city.
Essentially The Machine Project is a space where experimentally-minded creative people working in different fields can gather to exchange ideas, make things together, and present them to the public. Also, they have a library that comes out of the ground and a doorbell operated beer dispenser, it’s cool. They operate as a 501(c)3 and have become an integral part of the LA artistic community.
